Name: Cait Lynch
Age: 257 but looks about 19
Sex: Female
Species: Banshee
Nationality: Irish
Abilities/Strengths:
Trance Inducing Song: Cait, being a Banshee, has a beautiful voice. She sings putting the person in a trance like state. The person acts like they’re half asleep. She then sings in a way that attracts the person like a siren is known to do. She backs up and Screeches in the most ear piercing way, rendering the person to go unconscious.
Warning from the shadows: Like the the title says it’s a warning from the shadows. Cait sings softly following the soon to die everywhere until the day they are to die. She does this to warn the person that they will die. She stays int he shadows where she will not be seen. She tends to prefer this method because she doesn't actually expose herself.
Mist: Cait can disappear into a blanket of fog, or change her form into mist and appear in a new spot.
Keen: Being able to sing well isn’t all a Banshee can do. They are known to shriek at deafening pitches.
Inabilities/Weaknesses:
Her Siren like abilities only work on men. Her voice is heard by everyone, but only effects male people.
She is stubborn and does not cooperate with just about any one. Cait just about finds anything to argue about. This is one reason she works alone.
Like other Banshees if caught and held knife point she must give any information she knows that the sword wielder wishes.
If a person gets in between her and a water source then she must grant three wishes. This is the part about being a Banshee she absolutely hates, but in the bright side not too many people know this.
She absolute hates it when people call her a washerwoman (another name for a Banshee)
Occupation: If you consider warning people they’re about to die a job, then that’s it.
Appearance: Cait has milk white skin and “curves in all the right places”. She is tall and slender with bony elbows and knees. Her fingers are also quite long and bony. She has flaming red hair that reaches her tailbone at length. Her bangs are unkept and get in her eyes. She has bright green eyes that seem cold and distant.
She wears a soft blue dress going half way down her thighs. The sleeves barely cover her fingertips. Lavender ribbons are tied around the upper arms of the sleeves. The skirt of the dress has a darker blue fringe layered onto it. There is a lavender corset over Cait’s dress with a large bow in the back. She wears long socks that go up just below the dress, and belted leather boots.
Face claim: Shana from Shakugan no Shana
Personality: Often Cait disapproves of what others do because she doesn’t quite understand human behaviour. She finds their behaviour curious and strange. She is outward and distant. Commonly she avoids crowds and attention. Cait prefers quiet places and being alone. She makes it a habit to never lie. She is straight forward and often in a rude way. She is cold and very defensive. Her fight or flight response is quick to go off from the slightest threat. The fight response is more common for Cait than the flight. Though she has an abnormally defensive by nature, she is much less intimidated by humans than other species. Her lack of fear of humans gives her the cofidence to confront any human to do her duty as a banshee, warning them of their up coming death.
Life Story: There’s not much to tell of Cait’s past. She haunted those to die in a small town in Ireland. Her existence was known to the town as both a fact and myth. As time went on the people acknowledged her existence as less and less real. She decided to leave the town for one years then come back to haunt the people there again. She figured then her existence will then become clear to them. Not sure where to go Cait went to London. Though uncomfortable from the large population she stayed because many were confronting death.
Sample Roleplay: Cait walked gracefully down the dark street. She could feel the chill of death hanging over one particular building. The building had two stories. The first floor’s windows were all dark, but the floor above it was lit well. She looked up to a window to see a man and woman silhouette. The male silhouette disappeared, a moment later a window downstairs lit. Cait’s expression grew grave. She walked to the door, and quietly turned the knob. It was locked. She sighed. Her body faded into an eerie mist. The mist flowed into the building through the crack in between the door and ground. Apparently the man did not notice the fog in the room. It formed back into Cait. Her soft voice began to sing out to the man. He stiffened in surprise, but quickly loosened as the song took it’s effect. He turned from the chair he was going to sit in, and slowly moved to the Banshee. He held the smile of a blissful trance. His eyes were glazed over, and he moved to Cait without a single hint of control or thought. He was arms length away from her when he opened his arms to embrace her. She softly held his head in her hands. Her long bony fingers gently rubbed his cheeks. He fell to his knees with pleasure.
The woman came down the stairs. She gave a gasp of shock at the sight of her husband with the strange girl. She ran to her husband in fright screaming at him to try and make him come to his senses. It only caused him to mumble about how beautiful the Banshee is. Seeing her lack of results the wife began to scream and begging Cait to let her husband go. Though she heard fear in the woman’s voice she did nothing but ignore her.
Subtly Cait’s song faded and eventually ended. She seemed to have glided back a few steps. Lightly taking her hands from the man’s face she spread her arms out to her sides. Suddenly she began to keen. The man winced slightly in pain, but still half in a trance. His wife covered her ears from the deafening noise. Once the man fell unconscious Cait stopped keening. She turned back into mist which vanished from the room. Kneeling by her husband, the wife wept in fear.
On the roof of the building Cait sang quietly to herself. She stopped, and looked to the sky. She sat in silence listening to the lady weep.
“He dinnae even know whit was comin’.” Cait said to herself. She jumped off the roof landing gracefully in an alleyway. She walked down a different street to warn another person on the “to die” list.
