Name: Victor Valentine
Age: Roughly one hundred years.
Sex: Male
Species: Vampire
Nationality: German
Abilities/Strengths:
*Fast, agile, and well-versed in a variety of combat techniques, though his weapons of choice are an array of lightweight daggers and a barbed bullwhip.
*Quick-thinking, intelligent and intuitive, as well as very, very well-read.
*A vampire's standard storied abilities, including enhanced speed, strength, and senses, particularly when it comes to vision, as well as the ability to take on certain other forms-- such as that of a bat or black dog.
*Endorphins released in his saliva can send bitten victims into an euphoric state, though at the moment he remains quite unaware of this.
Inabilities/Weaknesses:
*Despite his vampiric nature, he has yet to feed from a human, choosing instead to sustain himself with the blood of various alternatives, mainly wild animals. An unsatisfactory substitute, this leaves him at a mere fraction of the power a vampire of his age could possess, not to mention perpetually hungry.
*He does fall prey to the typical vampire's aversion to sunlight-- though exposure won't result in anything as dramatic as him crumbling to so much dust and ash, as the legends would suggest-- it does burn, quickly and painfully, and is to be avoided at all costs, as it drains what few powers he has retained.
*He knows little of other vampires or their societies-- the one who turned him was a recently-reborn vampire, as well as a rogue, and vanished without a trace soon afterwards.
*His refusal to use humans as a food source has its consequences including abrupt, unpredictable bouts of weakness and dazedness, not to mention a struggle to retain control when around blood. He claims to suffer from hemophobia in an attempt to explain this away without revealing his true nature.
Occupation: Bookshop owner.
Appearance: Tall, slender, pale and green-eyed, he has a vampire's famed aesthetic appeal, though he's a bit thinner than he should be. His hair is inexplicably two-tone, and he's fond of dark colors in his wardrobe, particularly shades of gray and black, as well as of donning glasses-- with a vampire's predatory vision, they're thoroughly unnecessary, but he's long been accustomed to them and wears them nonetheless. When the weather permits, he tends to wrap a scarf around the lower half of his face-- to spare the repercussions of any minor slip that would display his fangs.
Faceclaim: Neuro of Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
Personality:
Though he's often smiling, he remains reserved and cold among most-- trust is not a value he was raised with a high regard for, life has only confirmed that lesson, and more importantly, he fears that his own nature will bring anyone he dares to care for to harm.
He remains cheerful and friendly enough, chivalrous to all-- at least outwardly-- but he inwardly harbors a mistrustful nature and a generally cynical worldview. His carefully-guarded exterior renders him enigmatic to nearly everyone. However, when he does trust, he trusts wholeheartedly, and those with the determination to win him over will not only find surprising warmth but earn an affectionate, loyal friend for life-- indeed, it may well be harder to lose him than it was to win him over.
All in all, his icy exterior hides a warm individual-- though he'd really rather not have that known.
Most know him as a mild-mannered shopkeeper with a great love for his books-- and little else. A quiet, solitary gentleman-- if not an outgoing one, at least friendly enough.
His bouts of weakness, tendencies to collapse at inopportune moments, and generally pale, gaunt appearance have marked him as an invalid and rumors as to the poor gentleman’s ‘condition’ do float around. His reclusive nature, the scarf constantly wrapped around the lower half of his face, and his often-trembling hands only add fuel to the fire.
Life Story:
Born to a wealthy family, he was raised and trained as the future Director of an underground order of paranormal researchers and monster hunters. However, he was the family's black sheep, often sympathizing with their so-called 'monsters' and advocating diplomacy as the first approach.
In his late twenties, during his attempts to free one of his father's unfortunate lab specimens, he was attacked. Bitten and left alive, he sought a cure for vampirisim but failed to discover one before the transformation was complete.
The accident came as a blessing to his father-- he could now name one of Victor's younger brothers as the family's heir, no questions asked-- and as was tradition, Victor himself, now the very being his family hunted most vehemently, was unceremoniously disowned.
His attempts to seek out other vampires were ill-fated, most of the clans he happened across distinctly unwelcoming. Little-- other than injuries, that is-- ever came of these run-ins, and Victor eventually resolved to keep to himself.
